This is the view from the back yard whale watching bench. Various whale species are visible year round, but the California Grey Whales make their migration south in December and January, and back north in March and April
The coastline is designated the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary which may soon be extended all the way to Santa Barbara. It's known as "The Serengeti of the Sea" due to its rich marine life and remarkable environment and grandeur.
Sunrises are glorious too, especially with rainbows.
There is no house to the left for added space and privacy, but this Harvey Beach is a premiere kayak and surf paddle-out spot and the go-to spot for family portraits.
Your balcony is the perfect spot to take in the mesmerizing views, look for sea otters with our binoculars, and revel in the fresh sea breeze or cooling fog.
In the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary just off your coast, you'll see a wide variety of marine life and the largest elephant seal rookery in the world is just 10 miles north. Hearst Castle is 8 miles north. Highway 1 to Big Sur is 1 mile away. Be on the lookout for kayakers, SUPpers, and even an occasional brave surfer.

The tide pools are exposed at low tide and ar a marvel of marine life. At first glance, they are still, but watch for a few moments and you see that they are brimming with movement and life.

Moonsets are not too shabby either. Enjoy viewing the stars and planets with our Celestron motion-tracking telescope (even see the rings of Saturn). With Cambria's dark skies, you can see the Milky Way with your naked eye and many more astronomical features with the telescope.
A California sea lion right on your beach (Harvey Beach). The much larger Elephant Seals reside 10 miles north of the house at their rookery, a must-see

You'll see Brown Pelicans, Western Gulls, Cassin's Auklets, Common Murres, Western Snowy Plovers, Hawks and other seabirds aplenty.
The back yard bluff is some 10 feet above the beach below which is protected with both natural and placed rocks. You might get splashed from the waves, but you and the house are safe.
Low tide exposes the interesting tide pools teeming with life.
You'll never get tired of the lavish sunsets.
